3 Types Of Hair Loss And The Reasons For Each

3 Types Of Hair Loss And The Reasons For Each

Did you know that there are three different types of hair loss in women and men? Did you also know that you have to treat each type of hair loss differently to address it (get to the root cause)?

Let's identify the three types of hair thinning.

1. Pattern Hair Loss (Men and Women)

Male or female pattern hair loss is also known as androgenic or androgenetic alopecia (AGA).

Both men and women have testosterone circulating through their body.

Testosterone gets converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which suppresses hair growth in the scalp and is believed to be the cause of hair thinning.

For men, thinning usually starts on the temples or crown area and progresses until the entire top of the head is bald.

For women, the thinning takes the form of a christmas tree pattern that begins right behind the part, and frequently the temples area.

Women complain of a widening part which progresses over time, but almost never leads to complete baldness.

Pattern hair loss must be addressed as quickly as possible. Once the hair follicle is completely miniaturized, it is very hard to revive it.

Our hair wellness system addresses hormones from the inside out and the outside in.

It's the most powerful natural hair wellness system ever created.

2. Diffuse Thinning (All Over The Scalp)

Diffuse hair thinning is more prevalent in women and can often shows as hair shedding all across the scalp (font, back, sides).

It is important to understand if you are experiencing diffuse thinning or pattern hair loss (above).

One way to determine is to ask a friend or a loved one or a friend to lift the hair on the sides and back of your scalp and take a close look at the hair density.

This is a good way to identify if you are experiencing diffuse thinning, as opposed to thinning in the front or top of your scalp which is more likely to be pattern hair loss.

Diffuse thinning is usually caused by excess stress, not having enough of particular vitamins and minerals, thyroid, or even medications.

Our FullyVital hair wellness system contains powerful adaptogens to balance stress, contains 14 superfoods to give your body everything it needs to grow hair.

Our serum also protects the hair follicles from oxidative stress.

3. Patchy Hair Loss (Anywhere On The Scalp)

Alopecia areata or patchy hair loss results in shiny round patches anywhere on the scalp.

In most cases, the round patches are the size of a quarter.

Alopecia areata is a condition caused by your own immune cells attacking the scalp.

White blood cells attack the cells in the hair follicle, causing them to shrink and slow down production.

Alopecia areata can occur suddenly within a span of just a few days. While scientists are unsure why alopecia areata occurs, it does seem to have a genetic link.

One in five family members had a relative who also developed alopecia areata.

If you are experiencing alopecia areata, you should seek the help of a dermatologist immediately.

They may consider anti-inflammatory corticosteroid injections or creams to calm your immune system.
